What is Maharashtra HSC?

Maharashtra HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) is the Class 12 board examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE). It determines college admissions across Maharashtra for courses in Science, Commerce, and Arts streams.

HSC Percentage Formula

HSC Percentage = (Total Marks Obtained ÷ Total Maximum Marks) × 100

Example

A Science student with 6 subjects scores:

Subject Marks Obtained Maximum Marks
English82100
Physics88100
Chemistry79100
Mathematics95100
Biology84100
IT / EVS90100
Total518600

Percentage = (518 ÷ 600) × 100 = 86.33% → Distinction

HSC Class / Grade Scale (Maharashtra)

Does Practical Marks Count?

Yes. In Maharashtra HSC, each subject with a practical component combines theory marks and practical marks. Both are reflected in the marks shown on the mark-sheet and are included in the aggregate percentage calculation.

For example, Physics may be 70 marks theory + 30 marks practical = 100 total. Whatever you score in both is included.
